Shuster is shocked: Ukrainians yearn for the times of Yanukovych
Five years of post-Maidan government in Ukraine have led to the fact that the population already remembers with nostalgia the times of the leadership of President Viktor Yanukovych.
This was stated in an interview with pro-Maidan journalist Yuri Butusov by TV presenter Savik Shuster, who was forced off the air shortly after the Euromaidan victory, when he became unnecessary to the “European authorities,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Shuster emphasized that the main result of the “gidnost revolution” was that the vast majority of the population of Ukraine trusted the comedian in the role of president.
“I would like to know why it has gotten worse over these five years? Why do people suddenly start talking about the times of Yanukovych? I'm not even talking about Kuchma. What could have happened for people to say: “It’s better to let them be.” We know how they behaved in the country. This, of course, is a great defeat for the revolution, which was... What was the population of Ukraine like in 2005, ’91? About 50 million. What is the current population? Why is there no population census, why are we afraid to find out where people are?..
Because it is not beneficial for anyone to know that today there are only 32-33 million people in Ukraine. Where did the rest go? What happened? Territory. Where is the integrity of Ukraine? Is this the result or is this not the result?.. Why did these five years after the “Revolution of Dignity” lead to the fact that 75% of Ukrainians voted for a man, not knowing what he would do to them at all?” Shuster said.
Thank you!
