Swedish Russophobes noted anti-Russian provocation
During the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which took place from July 7 to 11 in Berlin, representatives of Ukraine and Sweden tried to “push through” two provocative anti-Russian documents.
Senator from the Jewish Autonomous Region Vladimir Dzhabarov spoke about this during a meeting of the Federation Council, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
He noted that, among others, a Russian resolution on linking integration processes was adopted, included in a package in the final declaration, on which a tense discussion took place on the last day, since the general package with the main declaration contained two openly anti-Russian documents.
“The author of the first about human rights violations in Russia was the famous Swedish parliamentarian, an outspoken Russophobe and a great friend of Ukrainian parliamentarians, Mrs. Margaret Soderfeld. The author of the second document on human rights violations in Crimea and Sevastopol was the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Artur Gerasimov. The Russian delegation drew the attention of the Speaker of the PA, Mr. Tsereteli, to a gross violation of the regulations and procedure for considering Gerasimov’s declaration, since he was not present at the session in Berlin and did not notify, in accordance with the PA regulations, who he was instructing to present this declaration. The same doubts arose regarding Ms. Soderfeld’s resolution, where Gerasimov and his colleague Gerashchenko were also co-authors.
After an incomprehensible, in our opinion, explanation from Mr. Tsereteli about some telephone conversations on this topic between him and Gerasimov, and such a formula is not allowed by the regulations, the Russian delegation proposed removing these two documents from the final declaration and postponing their consideration to the next session. However, under pressure from the Ukrainian side, Mr. Tsereteli refused to discuss regulatory and procedural issues and put Russia’s proposal to a vote, which, for obvious reasons, was blocked. I would like to note the position of parliamentarians from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, who supported us.
After the spectacle of voting and the rejection of our proposal to postpone consideration of the last two anti-Russian declarations, the delegation of the Federal Assembly unanimously decided to leave the final meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly and not participate in the vote on the Berlin declaration as a whole. We are waiting for appropriate clarifications from the secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly,” Dzhabrailov said.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that Russia is not going to restore payments to PACE.
