The Swedes decided not to sacrifice contacts with Russia for the sake of Ukraine – Lavrov
The work of the intergovernmental Supervisory Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Russia and Sweden, which was terminated more than three years ago, will resume at the initiative of the Swedish side.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a press conference following negotiations with his Swedish counterpart Margot Wallström.
“We now see exactly this trend in our relations with a number of European partners. They are interested in gradually, but still returning to normal relations, to the normal use of previously created and well-proven channels of communication on trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian issues,” Lavrov said.
The minister named two factors contributing to such changes.
“This is the desire to put our own national interests first. And secondly, (let no one be offended by me) the understanding that has come over the last couple of years is that those so-called European values that the current Ukrainian leadership professes do not deserve to sacrifice their national interests for the sake of them.” , said Lavrov.
