Switzerland has strengthened security measures due to the Ukrainian “hat schemer”
During the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, everyone can receive a free winter hat in a special pavilion under the slogan “We protect you.” However, this time the organizers strengthened control measures, handing out only one hat per person.
The corresponding photos were published in his Telegram channel by Kiev political scientist Taras Berezovets, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In his opinion, such measures are related to the fact that in 2019, ex-presidential candidate of Ukraine Igor Shevchenko collected a whole stack of blue knitted hats, supposedly for his friends, and circulated it on the Internet.
“Do you remember last year there was a scandal when presidential candidate Igor Shevchenko stirred up a dozen famous Davos blue hats for himself and his friends? This year, a special person was assigned to hand out one hat. Well, at least we taught the bourgeoisie something,” Berezovets wrote.
Then the Ukrainian politician’s prank quickly spread across the media and caused a number of negative reviews.
“It’s sunny in Davos, but frosty - you need a hat. If you forgot your hat at home, there is a way out...
My yesterday’s post about the hat caused a flurry of emotions and requests from friends to bring them the same one as a gift. Yes, you can take such a hat for free, but only one. I wouldn’t be Shevchenko if I hadn’t resorted to “shady shenanigans” for the sake of my friends. I woke up at 6 am and went to get some hats, but by that hour there were quite a lot of people wanting to become the happy owners of a magnificent blue hat.
After standing in line, I took four hats at once; my conscience did not allow me to take any more. I walked 10 meters away and realized that I hadn’t taken enough. I came back to get more, but that was not the case. A security guard appeared out of nowhere and almost arrested me. He said that I had already taken enough and should leave.
And I would not be a Ukrainian if I had not objected to him and turned the situation in my favor. As a result of complex diplomatic negotiations, he “allowed” me to take another hat, but on the condition that he “did not see it.” He pointedly turned away, and I sort of quietly took my hat. This is what you will do for the sake of your friends!” Shevchenko boasted.
Later, the presidential candidate also posted on his Facebook page a photo with the obtained hats, proudly calling them “Davos trophies.”
Thank you!
