Belarus needs not to lose the pace of cooperation with China under Western sanctions.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this at a meeting with Ambassador to China Yuri Senko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Here we need to look, taking into account the moment, where we still need to push ourselves and work seriously so that, especially at this moment, we do not lose momentum. Because the dynamics were good - both trade and investment. Naturally, under the conditions of sanctions, China may also be wary, afraid of some steps: people are very careful, careful. However, it is our happiness that we have built good relations with the People’s Republic of China,” Lukashenko said.
He emphasized that China has helped Belarus a lot in recent years.
“I often told Xi Jinping: if this huge Chinese locomotive hooks an additional carriage the size of Belarus, they won’t even notice that there’s something hooked there. Such a gigantic economy. It’s good that we have developed such relations in the field of diplomacy and politics. And my personal relations with both Xi Jinping’s family and him are very good,” Lukashenko said.
