According to the publication, in order to circumvent the sanctions, the turbines will first be sent to Taman, but this will be a mere formality, and then to Crimea.
“Power stations in Crimea are needed for autonomous energy supply to the peninsula. Now during peak hours it is 90% dependent on flows from Ukraine. But Russian factories do not produce turbines of the required power, and the European Union banned the export of technologies and equipment for the Crimean energy sector a year ago. Last week, the sanctions were extended for another six months,” the publication recalls.
Officially, Siemens will refuse to service its turbines in Crimea. However, spare parts can easily be purchased at Siemens factories in China and Iran, and Siemens service is already localized in Russia, market experts told the newspaper.
