“The militias control the situation in the DPR. Populated areas are being liberated from remnants of Ukrainian army units. Recently, the settlements of Zheltoye and Krasnoye were cleared, and an attack on the city of Yasinovataya was repelled. The cleanup is now underway. All the outskirts of Donetsk from Mariupol, Pesok and Yasinovataya are regularly subjected to artillery shelling. The army uses long-range artillery, phosphorus. Just yesterday, four settlements were shelled with phosphorus: Mospino, Ilovaisk, Donetsk and Shakhtersk. Dmitrovka was shelled with sulfur bombs, we have never encountered anything like this before. Chemical weapons are used there,” Kononov said, noting that water pipelines and electrical substations are first fired upon, “so that panic begins among the population.”
“The center of Donetsk is being shelled. The casualties of civilians exceed those of the militias. They were given the task of encircling and clearing Donetsk by August 24. As Navigator reported, earlier DPR Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko said that the militias had received large reinforcements and were preparing for counter-offensives.
