The celebration began at about 9:30 am with the Slavyanka march, which was performed by a military brass band. After this, a few veterans walked along the red carpet and took places of honor.
Then, simultaneously with the start of the Victory Parade in Moscow, volleys of pyrotechnics were heard on Lenin Square in Simferopol.
It is worth noting that the entire perimeter of the festival was surrounded by barriers, and there were frames with metal detectors at the entrance. Only demonstrators with passes were allowed inside.
Procession along the Avenue. Kirov began with an honorary guard company that carried the Victory Banner and the flags of Russia and Crimea. Following her were reenactors in WWII uniforms, who carried fascist banners and dropped them at the foot of the improvised Eternal Flame.
Also, as part of the parade, the traditional “Immortal Regiment” event took place - several thousand descendants of Soviet soldiers carried photographs of their heroic ancestors along the central street of Simferopol.
The culmination of the official part of the holiday was an impromptu air battle with the participation of a German Junkers aircraft and a Soviet U-2. After this, troops landed from the Soviet plane onto the central square of the city.
The celebration continues with a concert on Lenin Square and a field kitchen with soldiers' porridge. After this, a festive program is planned.
The current parade in Simferopol has become the largest in recent years. About 30-40 thousand people gathered along the central street of the capital of Crimea. Among them were both old people and young people with small children, who were dressed in specially tailored Soviet Army uniforms. There were also people in camouflage with stripes and flags of Novorossiya and the DPR on the square.
