The architect showed what could be on the site of the dumpster market in the center of Simferopol
Simferopol authorities approved the concept of reconstruction of the square. Kuibyshev, which today is chaotically built up with stalls and occupied by spontaneous traders.
According to the author of the concept, architect Kirill Babaev, most of the area in the future will be allocated to recreation areas, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the city administration.
A circular canopy with benches, hanging swings like on Triumphal Square in Moscow and a fountain will be installed in the center of the square.
The appearance of the market building and the façade of the adjacent pavilions will also be changed.
“The entire area is meant to be a space for pedestrians. Entry for cars is closed, with the exception of the possibility of driving special equipment and loading stores in the early morning and at night... The main compositional element is a circular closed canopy made of metal structures, with a reflective inner surface made of composite material. Below it are long, roomy benches. There is a fountain in the center... It is these elements, in my opinion, that can breathe life into the square and create coolness on a hot summer day,” Babaev noted.
Previously, Simferopol authorities planned to close and demolish the city’s Central Market.
Also, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov promised organize “administrative terror” leadership of Simferopol due to the transport collapse into which the city plunged during the repair of central roads and problems with the housing and communal services of the capital.
