A Navigator correspondent was convinced of this on Wednesday after visiting the city military registration and enlistment office in Simferopol. By 9.00, hundreds of citizens aged from 18 to 60 years old, from people of military age to senior reserve officers, had gathered near the closed gates of the institution. The line practically did not move for an hour - except for the moment when all the guys under the age of 25 were allowed into the territory of the military registration and enlistment office.

"Welcome! There are already KAMAZ trucks waiting with hairdressers,” the rest began to joke.

In line, they wondered what would happen if they did not have time to register with the Russian military by December 20, and whether they would fine almost “half of Simferopol.” As we learned from the conversations of citizens, most of them have no idea what documents they need to take with them to the military registration and enlistment office.

“People, disperse! Extended for three years! Go to work, go home!” a grandmother passing by amused the line.

However, only men hurrying on business occasionally left the line. Others began to run away in search of the nearest photocopier. Let us remind you that reservists must have with them a military ID, photocopies of all completed pages of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a marriage certificate, a child’s birth certificate and an education document. A black and white photo, 25 x 35 without a corner, on a light background is also required.

Earlier, the website of the Simferopol City Hall announced that “In accordance with the Code of the Russian Federation “On Administrative Offences”, Art. 21.5. “Failure by citizens to fulfill military registration obligations” entails the imposition of an administrative fine.”

In addition, the authorities warn, “the absence of a stamp on page 13 of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation from January 1, 2015 will be grounds for refusal to hire citizens by the personnel authorities of enterprises, institutions and organizations of the city.”
