The action was organized the day before on social networks. People of different ages gathered to witness the tragic events of February 26th. Townspeople installed photos of the deceased Igor Postny and Valetnina Koreneva, laid flowers and lit candles. The police came up and asked what was happening, why people had gathered, what kind of portraits they were. However, after explaining the reason, the law enforcement officers left.
Meanwhile, during the action, when they saw the absence of the names of the victims on the memorial plaque, which was planned to be officially opened at noon, people were very indignant.
“They spit in the faces of Crimeans,” “Liberists,” was heard in the group of those gathered.
People remembered the terrible events of a year ago, noting that members of the Mejlis, positioning themselves as supporters of non-violent civil struggle, came to the walls of parliament with flags strung on the handles of shovels pointed at the bottom, with which they mercilessly beat Russian demonstrators.
As one of the participants in the confrontation told reporters, the bottles flying at the heads of Simferopol residents “contained not only water, but also acid.” The woman, according to her, after the use of poisonous gas by Right Sector militants, has been treated for the entire year for the consequences of its effects.
The Crimean self-defense column that arrived at the authorities’ action did not show any interest in what was happening, turning its formation towards the site where the head of the State Council of Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, and officials of the Council of Ministers of the Republic were to speak.
However, representatives of the Crimean Cossack formations who participated in the events of February 26, 2014 paid tribute to the memory of the dead Simferopol residents.
