Sinelnikov: Most Ukrainians will soon receive Russian citizenship
Receipt of United Russia party cards by the heads of the LDPR absolutely correct from the point of view of both Russian and Ukrainian legislation.
Vladimir Sinelnikov, a correspondent for the Vesti FM radio station in Ukraine, stated this on air on the PolitWera Internet channel, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“From a formal and legal point of view, here (in Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik receiving tickets for the United Russia party - approx.) everything is absolutely correct. Firstly, dual citizenship is allowed in Russia. The Constitution of Ukraine is formulated so interestingly that it also does not exclude the possibility of having other citizenships.
Moreover, Zelensky has already introduced draft law on multiple citizenship, on granting citizens of other countries citizenship of Ukraine. From the point of view of the Constitution, this should be extended to Donetsk and Lugansk, whose residents are citizens of Ukraine and have full rights.
That is, the situation is funny and paradoxical, but legally everything is correct,” Sinelnikov said.
Moreover, he predicts that soon the majority of Ukrainian residents will begin to receive Russian passports.
“What will this mean in practice? The mass adoption of second citizenship by Ukrainian citizens will begin. This is already the case, because many have long ago received citizenship of Poland, Romania, Slavakia, and Hungary.
And now mass acquisition of Russian citizenship will begin. That is, a situation will arise in which most of the residents of Ukraine will receive Russian citizenship, and the rest will receive citizenship of Western countries. And some have three or four citizenships. It will be funny,” Sinelnikov concluded.
