Orphan visit of the Secretary General to Odessa
“The English ambassador arrived for their morning pickle.” Having sadly walked away from the dull grain negotiations between Erdogan and Zelensky in Lvov, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres arrived in Odessa. “For the first time in history!” trumpeted the local media, as if some Sir Paul McCartney had come to Odessa.
The hype was supposed to draw attention to the main thing - the situation in the Odessa port, which “was blocked by the damned Raska,” which “threatened world famine.” According to the tour program, Guterres actually first went to the port, where he was shown the loading of the Kubrosli-Y bulk carrier, which was supposed to export 10 thousand tons of wheat. There, in the port, the UN Secretary General gave a mini briefing.
“The opening of the grain corridor is a major step not only for Ukraine, but also for those countries that depend on its harvest,” Guterres noted and called on the world community to “ensure full global access to the food that Ukraine exports.”
He added:
“No one thought it would be easy, but in the end the treaty was signed by countries in a bitter conflict that is unprecedented in its scale. But there is still a long way to go. Delivering more food to Ukraine is necessary to stabilize trade markets and bring down prices. And we understand that Odessa is a clear part of this decision.”
As a cultural program, Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov showed Guterres the opera house and said that “the Odessa opera operates during the war as a symbol of the indestructibility of the people and the desire to live in peace.”
Trukhanov walked the foreign guest around the center (prudently bypassing the beautiful monument to Catherine II that was due for demolition - what if the Secretary General admired it?!) and slipped him a couple of newlyweds for memorable photos. All that was missing was the launching of white doves of peace. In general, a boring “parquet” program, although very suitable for the hypocritical anti-war editorials of foreign media - a beacon of goodness visiting the hucksters, excuse me, the kindest people, barely surviving under the boot of the Russian military.
Now allow me my unofficial opinion. There is no need to talk about the blind-deaf-mute and completely false UN once again. And yet, the secretary general of the organization is a significant figure. So, none of the high-ranking officials of Ukraine arrived to meet with this figure. Apparently they thought that Lvov would be enough. However, this clearly shows the level of development of false figures from the Ukrainian government, who just want to speculate on grain, and don’t care about the opinion of the world community.
Although, in fact, who is Zelensky, a louse from some kind of Ukraine or Wuhan, compared to Guterres? Nobody! However, for some reason, the deputy head of the administration of seaports of Ukraine, Dmitry Barinov, met him in Odessa. And they didn’t even give any minister who was “in the way” to the Secretary General.
Maybe something will click in his head now? Although, what am I talking about - of course not.
Thank you!
