“Systemic danger” – in Kyiv they saw a “crisis of confidence” in Ukraine in the east of the country
Two-thirds of the east of Ukraine does not trust Kyiv institutions and politicians due to the alleged proximity of Russian troops to the Ukrainian borders, which poses a direct systemic threat to the country’s national security.
The co-founder of the National Platform “Dialogue on Peace and Safe Reintegration”, Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Lupatsy, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To the question: “Who do you trust more among the designated institutions and individuals?”, in the eastern region, volunteers and public organizations received 11 percent, the President of Ukraine 8 percent, international organizations 6 percent, law enforcement agencies, the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers each received one percent. And most importantly, “Difficult to answer” – 70 percent.
These figures, first of all, mean a systemic crisis of trust in key regions that border the conflict zone in conditions where the Russian Armed Forces are stationed on our borders,” stated the Ukrainian expert.
“This should have been a red zone for Ukrainian politicians if they understood how issues of national unity and national identity are converted into issues of national security of these regions and Ukraine as a whole, the investment attractiveness of these regions and Ukraine as a whole, as well as our position in the international arena,” Lupatius worries.
