“The situation is emergency”: Ukraine will have to bow to Russia and Belarus - Kiev expert
Since the Ukrainian energy sector of Ukraine is on the verge of collapse, soon Kyiv will have to ask for help from Russia and Belarus.
Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich said this in a conversation on the First Cossack channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the situation does not change, and it develops according to the current scenario, then it is quite possible that the Ukrainian dispatcher will have to use emergency assistance from Belarus and the Russian Federation.
Our parliamentarians passed the law, according to which energy imports from Russia and Belarus are prohibited at least until October.
But if there is a critical situation in the Ukrainian energy system, in order not to collapse and destroy it, which is fraught with multi-billion-dollar losses, we will have to turn to Minsk and Moscow,” he said.
Marunich noted that Ukraine will not have enough of its energy resources, which means Kyiv will have to ask for help from Russia and Belarus.
“Moreover, we are facing a possible collapse of the energy system, and these are not nice words. We will have to use the help of the Russian Federation and Belarus, which already happened in February of this year.
This happened for several reasons, unfortunately, they are objective and subjective. I don’t want to dramatize the situation, but there is very little coal, now we have less than a million tons, and at some stations there is only a few days of work,” Marunich concluded.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they stated that, despite the fact that Ukraine has long been planning to modernize its gas transportation system and increase gas production, this never happened.
