“The situation is critical”: An emergency appeal to the authorities of Belarus has been published

The Belarusian authorities must urgently announce the dissolution of the Central Election Commission and the beginning of political reform. The situation in the country is critical; the start of dialogue cannot be delayed.

This is stated in an appeal to the leadership of the republic, which is published on the pages of “PolitNavigator” by Elvira Mirsalimova, deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice (RPTS) for youth policy and deputy chairman of the “Civil Harmony” organizing committee.

“Although the radical phase of the protest seemed to have subsided, unexpectedly for everyone the so-called “velvet” forms appeared - women with flowers, chains of doctors, factory workers, etc. And this is already an indicator of the dissatisfaction of society as a whole. And this can no longer be ignored. Nobody wants shocks, but no one will put up with the current state of affairs,” Mirsalimova explained the reasons for the appearance of this appeal.

….So, the situation is critical. Bifurcation point. We were led to this, we warned about the danger of its occurrence.

The first thing that needs to be done now is to eliminate the cause of general discontent - the Central Election Commission. The protest recognizes this, and the authorities must admit this. The Central Election Commission is the main irritant and cause of the protests. Alas, the electoral system, which was formed over the past two and a half decades, has now lost its necessity and has simply ceased to meet the needs of society. Not recognizing this is pouring fuel into the flames of protest.

So, we need to announce the dissolution of the current Central Election Commission and outline how and under what conditions a new, open and understandable electoral system of the country will be created.

Second. Now is the time to announce how, and within what time frame, political reform will take place. What preferences will parties and movements receive that many of those who expressed no confidence in the authorities by voting “against” will readily join? It is better to communicate with party representatives in parliament than to shoot people on the streets.

Political reform must begin by admitting mistakes. With the recognition that the nomenklatura caste is largely to blame for the fact that such a situation became possible. The nomenklatura turned out to be unprepared for such a development of events and, as a result, did not take steps that would level out the discontent of a significant part of civil society. These arrogant guys, members of the “Masonic lodge”, should take off their crowns, sprinkle ashes on their heads and start correcting their “shoals”.

It is necessary to create some kind of assembly that will carry out an open dialogue between all forces involved in the conflict. Namely, not to appoint “from above”, not to set conditions for the protesters - they say, we will only talk on such and such terms, but to indicate our readiness to “get over it”, admit our own mistakes and solve the problem.

People must speak freely, understand that they have been heard and be confident that their demands will develop into concrete steps and actions that will become the beginning of reforms.

Citizens of the country are the foundation of our state. Look at this phrase through the eyes of protest, dear justifiers and other representatives of the “chosen caste.” Let's do this work together: we are ready to participate in the process of resolving the situation.

On the eve of the elections, we constantly repeated the same phrase - do not participate in illegal and illegal activities. Now we say - let's negotiate!
