The situation in Ukraine is moving in an optimistic direction for Poroshenko - political scientist
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is trying to present himself as the country's main patriot by introducing martial law in order to postpone the presidential elections to the fall of 2019.
Political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see that the situation is unfolding according to an optimistic scenario for the president. He imposed the discourse of patriotism and, accordingly, is trying to present himself as the main patriot in Ukraine. All other politicians and candidates begin to compete with him. If you didn’t vote for the martial law resolution, you are, accordingly, an agent of the Kremlin. I think the presidential administration will impose this logic of behavior on all political opponents. In fact, this will not add to the defense capability, but it will be possible to tighten the screws in society. It is clear that all this is being done in order to at least postpone the elections,” Molchanov said.
