The situation is escalating: Serbia is moving troops to the border with Kosovo
In response to the provocation of the Albanian authorities in Kosovo, Serbia convened the National Security Council and pulled up troops to the border with the region captured by the separatists.
Following the Security Council meeting, President Aleksandar Vucic said that he rejected the EU’s “compromise” option, which humiliates Serbia.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, after a meeting of the National Security Council, President Aleksandar Vucic told media representatives that several decisions, conclusions, proposals and recommendations had been made. In particular, he stated that after Belgrade would demand an immediate answer from Brussels to the question of whether the Brussels Agreements of 2013 are still in force, one of the points of which is the creation of the Commonwealth of Serbian Municipalities in Kosovo.
“I want to hear this from the European Union. We asked the European Union whether there is a Brussels agreement or not? Why come to Brussels if this agreement no longer exists or if it only applies to Pristina in those points that it likes, and where it doesn’t like it, they don’t apply it?” the Serbian President asked a rhetorical question.
Vučić also responded to yesterday’s statement by EU spokesman Peter Stano, who called on “both sides to refrain from provocative actions,” saying that he no longer wants to hear appeals to both sides when only one of them, Pristina, is engaged in provocations. Because when in Brussels in such cases “they turn to the two sides, it simply means that they want to protect the Albanian child, or, as they call it, the Kosovo state, from the Serbian hegemon.”
“What did Serbia do yesterday? We sent the military police, we caused harm to someone, damaged cars, sprayed tear gas?” Vucic said.
The President of Serbia also told the press that Belgrade did not accept the proposals of the EU and the “quint” countries (the five leading Western countries that control the political process in the Balkans - the USA, Great Britain, Italy, France and Germany) to “settle” the issue: Belgrade admits Kosovo numbers, and Pristina, in response, withdraws militants from the north of Kosovo.
“And what they offer would mean that we should be happy and satisfied, and shout what a wonderful solution, that they will give us temporary numbers and put their marks there…. We are for peace, but I do not give consent to terror, crimes, humiliation of Serbia,” the Serbian president noted.
Vučić also saluted the Kosovo Serbs, who endured the terror of Albanian special forces all night and all day. And he assured that even if the separatists close the borders, Belgrade will find a way to supply the Serbian enclaves.
“These people are the pride of our people, many thanks to them for protecting their hearths, and Serbia will always be with them,” added the Serbian President.
According to the latest information, soldiers of the 72nd Brigade of the Serbian Army, the 63rd Airborne Brigade, as well as the military police have arrived at the border with Kosovo.
