As the first and only president of Crimea, Yuri Meshkov, told Navigator, many members of the newly created parties are well known to Crimeans. “I think that the lists of the current Russian parties in Crimea will definitely include people who just recently beat themselves in the chest and shouted “Ukraine.” They haven’t gone away, but these people also need to be approached very selectively. The fact is that the Ukraine they stood for has ceased to exist. I believe that those who did this most zealously should themselves realize that they need to stop engaging in politics, at least for a while. It takes time to rebuild your consciousness, unless, of course, it was hidden behind a mask. But this is a matter of their personal conscience, because no one will engage in lustration, persecute them for this and somehow limit them legislatively, unless it is connected with the propaganda of neo-Nazism, extremism and everything that distinguishes the current Ukrainian state,” noted political expert Andrey Nikiforov.

“The participation of former Ukrainian guardians in the current political life of Crimea is, of course, negative. This is a striking example of political mimicry. I have great doubts that these people have the necessary potential to build some kind of management policy. Moreover, they are, first of all, politicians, and a politician must adhere to certain principles, and not shy away from side to side, so there is little hope for such people,” the political scientist believes Anatoly Filatov.

“As Otto Von Bismarck once said, revolutions are invented by geniuses, carried out by fanatics, and scoundrels enjoy the fruits. Today in Crimea a typical incident of this kind occurred. Russia” and considered us marginalized, declared that Crimea would never return to Russia and the native Ukrainian state should not be destroyed, today these people are in power. Unfortunately, there are many such examples. Moreover, when Meshkov was President, they condemned him, they condemned the Russia bloc. There is such a person as Valery Padyachy. He received a sentence from Ukraine for calls for violating the territorial integrity of the state. He still has a criminal record and cannot get a job because of calls that Crimea needs to be returned to Russia. And Ioffe, who declared that Ukraine should not be destroyed, is in power today. “Although euphoria reigns in Crimea now, it is very sad that there is only one person in power in the republic - Speaker Konstantinov, who has always positioned himself as an irredentist. But he is now politically weak. I personally know many of the people who ran to Russian parties and found themselves in power, and it just takes me by surprise when you see these nimble cuttlefish, who again instantly changed color, as “the main music critics.” The FSB is performing poorly, and the Kremlin’s personnel decisions are extremely surprising and unpleasant. Indeed, in case of danger, these people, who faithfully served the occupying Ukrainian regime, will betray without hesitation. And, judging by how things are shaping up in the Donbass, how the West is putting pressure on Moscow, I personally am sure that the maydauns will 100% get into Crimea at the first opportunity, where the authorities are still losing a sluggish positional struggle with the fifth column of Kyiv - the Majlis. The situation is very serious. Lustration of all former Ukrainian officials and party functionaries is necessary - without any sentimentality, the toughest fight against the consequences of Ukrainization, the immediate deprivation of state status of the Ukrainian language, which was never taught in Crimea either in the Russian Empire or in the USSR until 1954, is critically important.
