The situation in Odessa for Ukraine is the most dangerous since May 2014, - nationalist
Ukrainian radicals in Odessa, who attended the trial of the participants in the events of May 2, were ready for an acquittal. Sergei Sternenko, introduced as a “civil activist,” stated this on the Ukrainian TV channel Hromadske TV.

“Given the fact that the prosecutor’s office did not provide any evidence, it was impossible to imprison anyone. There were three witnesses, one of whom, a law enforcement officer, testified that the key person involved, Dolzhenkov, was simply present on Greek Square. Two more witnesses: a participant in those events and a pro-Russian activist. They showed that the anti-Maidanovites were not armed, and the Euro-Maidanovists, on the contrary, were ready to use force,” Sternenko said.
The fact that the SBU has already brought new charges against Sergei Dolzhenkov and Evgeniy Mefedov does not please the Odessa “civil activist”.
“It seems to me that this is simply a reaction to public outrage, and not a desire to bring the matter to an end. I doubt that we will see these citizens in the dock with real sentences. I predict that in a month or two, maximum six months, they will be acquitted, released, and they will win huge compensation for themselves in the European Court of Human Rights. Both the EU and the UN, whose reports the court referred to, are completely informationally disoriented. These are the consequences of Russia’s work,” Sternenko said.
In his opinion, the decision made will destabilize the situation.
“Odessa is already quite restless due to the tragedy in the children’s camp. The picket of public organizations near the City Council may result in clashes. This verdict could galvanize pro-Russian forces. People’s moods are now very radicalized for the first time since the events of May 2,” Sternenko said.
