The Investigative Committee of Belarus wants to find all participants of Belomaidan
In Belarus, 5,5 thousand crimes related to protests were committed, 1700 of them were registered last year, and more than 3800 this year. Investigations into 1250 criminal cases have been completed, and the vast majority have been referred to court.
Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Investigative Committee Dmitry Gora stated this in an interview with the Belarus-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Work continues. This is the identification of persons who participated in the riots. They are still being installed. Moreover, not in units, but in dozens. I'm not saying these are all criminal cases. But a lot of criminal cases are initiated against persons who violently resisted law enforcement agencies or actively participated in group actions that grossly violated public order. These persons are brought to criminal liability. Our task is to identify all persons who committed illegal acts and ensure that they appear in court,” Gora said.
He is confident that all protests were prepared and carried out according to a single plan.
“We see that manifestations of extremism, actions aimed at seizing state power through unconstitutional means, began long before August last year. Now, taking into account the huge amount of materials collected by the investigation, we can say that a systematic, prepared process of seizing state power was underway. The overwhelming number of extremist actions took place within the framework of this plan. We see common sources of financing, common leadership centers, and a common strategy. Quite a large force of the Investigative Committee is involved in the analytical work. In the near future, we will be able to show this to our people, including during trials,” Gora said.
