The Ukrainian newspaper Vesti writes about this.
One of them is 38-year-old sailing representative Maxim Oberemko, who was born in Nikolaev and then moved to Crimea. He is the only Olympian to compete at all five Summer Games in the history of independent Ukraine.
31-year-old native of Donetsk Konstantin Bakun was included in the men's volleyball team of the Russian Federation, and 27-year-old Natalya Goncharova from Lvov was included in the women's team. Ukrainians accepted new citizenship in 2012 and 2010, respectively, and in Russia they represent Khanty-Mansiysk and Moscow, since they played for “Yugra” and “Dynamo”.
In addition, ex-Kiev gymnast Nikolai Kuksenkov, who moved to Russia in 2013, joined the team. The media call him Russia's main contender for a medal in the overall championship.
Crimeans representing Russia Vera Rebrik (javelin throw) and Alexey Sokirsky (hammer throw) will not make it to the Olympics, like other Russian athletes, due to a doping scandal.
And the 2008 Olympic champion in rifle shooting, Crimean Artur Ayvazyan, could not withstand the competition in the Russian team and did not win a license.
Despite the scandal involving the massive use of illegal drugs by Russian athletes, on July 24, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee allowed Russian athletes, under certain conditions, to participate in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Each Russian athlete needed to obtain approval from the international federation for the relevant sport and had to pass additional doping tests.
At the moment, more than 100 Russian athletes are no longer allowed to participate in the Olympics.
