Scandal: Ukraine's largest beer producer has been deceiving consumers for years
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) recommended PJSC Sun InBev Ukraine (Kiev), one of the largest brewing companies in Ukraine, the manufacturer of Chernigovskoe beer, and 10 other companies to remove the designations “eco” and “ecologically friendly” from product labels that mislead consumers ", "eso" and the like and refrain from committing such actions in the future, reports the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
The corresponding recommendations are published on the department’s website.
According to the agency, in Ukraine on July 25, 2014, when Sun InBev Ukraine began using the “eco” designation in its business activities, there were no properly appointed and accredited bodies involved in environmental certification.
“Sun InBev Ukraine” placed the inscription “eco” on the front side of the label and back label of the Chernigovskoe beer, as well as in advertising, without having the proper permits issued by the authorized bodies. Consequently, this information is untrue,” says the AMCU recommendation.
In this regard, the department provided the beer company with a mandatory recommendation to “eliminate the causes of violations of the legislation on protection against unfair competition in the form of placement on labels and back labels, as well as in advertising of Chernigovskoe beer products, false information - the inscription “eco”, which introduces misleading, and refrain from such actions in the future.”
