Scandal in Ukraine: A 24-year-old Roshen employee was appointed to a high government position
Kyiv, January 18 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – A scandal erupted in Ukraine around the appointment of a 24-year-old Roshen manager to the post of head of the National Commission for Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NCRECU).
The Commission is one of the key government bodies that sets tariffs and prices for energy resources and housing and communal services tariffs. Since the “reforms” of the current authorities consist primarily of increasing tariffs, control over the Commission is of primary importance.
Roshen reported that they fired 24-year-old Dmitry Vovk in November 2014 because he could not cope with his work. And already on December 31, 2014, Petro Poroshenko appointed him head of NEURC.

“Dmitry Vovk was indeed hired by the company for the position of national sales development manager in Russian retail chains in March 2013. He worked in this position for less than two years, and was dismissed in November 2014 due to unsatisfactory results of his activities, having not demonstrated high qualifications in his position as a manager,” according to the Roshen website.
Vovk has worked at Roshen Corporation since March 2013. Prior to this, since 2009, he was assistant vice president for corporate finance at Investment Capital Ukraine (ICU). This company belongs to the current head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, and the current Minister of Energy and former head of NEURC, Vladimir Demchishin, also previously worked for it.
