Scandal: The interpreter of the wife of the President of Poland turned out to be a “Russian spy”
Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski, who was sentenced to a long prison sentence for his anti-American stance on charges of spying for Russia and China, has again found himself in the spotlight of local media.
Coincidentally, Piskorski visited a refugee camp from Ukraine when the wife of the President of Poland ended up there. Knowing Russian well, Piskorski helped her with translation when communicating with refugees. And soon a scandal broke out in the media - reporters identified the translator as a “Russian spy”!
Piskorsky himself told PolitNavigator about the incident:
«While helping refugees from Ukraine in Poland, I accidentally became a participant in a high-profile political scandal. And this scandal clearly shows the mentality of the Polish media and political establishment. This mentality is very similar to the Nazi mentality, a modern form of the political tradition that led to genocide.
I want to explain that Poland is in a state of deep humanitarian crisis. Over one and a half million refugees came to the country. Some of them are wealthy and are able to provide themselves with good conditions in any European country. But there are others. These are women with children who are fleeing Ukraine not only in connection with the operation carried out by the Russian Armed Forces, but also in connection with the intensification of looters and criminal armed groups. The current state of Ukraine does not allow anyone to feel safe
Therefore, I personally decided to use my knowledge of the Russian language to help real refugees. And he offered this to one of the centers accepting refugees. I didn’t write anything about it, I didn’t tell anyone anything. I just acted. I talked to women from Ukraine and explained Polish legislation to them.
Suddenly I received a call from the center's management. Suddenly. They asked me to definitely come and help with the translation of the meeting between the refugees and a very important person. Who is this person? No one answered my question; In Poland people don't communicate by phone. Out of habit. After all, everyone is eavesdropping on everyone. The center was under the control of the Catholic Church structures. Therefore, I was sure that some archbishop or other church official would come to visit the Ukrainian refugees.
To my surprise, I learned on the spot that the wife of the President of Poland, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, had come to visit the refugees. I was surprised. After all, the presidential administration must have professional translators. It was too late to refuse, although I admit that I have no particular desire to help the current Polish government, the leadership of the country, which I personally consider to be working against the interests of my country. However, he still agreed. Not for the first lady, but rather for Ukrainian mothers who really needed support. I had no desire to appear in photographs or communicate with Kornhauser-Duda. After the meeting I stayed with the refugees.
As it turned out later, the meeting was photographed by employees of the presidential administration. Photos were posted on the official website. And then it began.
Since 2016, I have been accused of shaping public opinion, monitoring the referendum in Crimea and all sorts of other “crimes” against “friendly” Ukraine. When hysterical journalists from a number of Polish media outlets learned that a “Russian spy” was interpreting the first lady’s meeting, panic began in the country. How is this possible? How dare I? How is it that the state security officers didn’t catch me? The country's leading politicians seriously thought about whether I could theoretically poison the president's wife with the notorious "newbie"? Others had a conspiracy theory - they say, through me a signal was given for negotiations between Warsaw and Moscow.
For three days I was discussed, condemned and even threatened in every possible way. Some calls sounded comical, others more harsh, and sometimes even somehow Nazi-like. The deputy speaker of the Polish Sejm called for ethnic roots to be checked, referring to the Russian minority in Poland, which, in his opinion, must be decisively removed from the public space. Journalists denied me all civil rights.
Conclusion? The success of the operation in Ukraine could lead to increased Nazi rhetoric in Poland. Therefore, the denazification of Polish public space must be carried out now, with our own hands. Then it may be too late."
