The scandal with Ukraine's seizure of a Russian ship continues
A Ukrainian court has arrested the Russian fishing vessel "Nord" from Kerch, which was detained by border guards in the Sea of Azov. The fake “Deputy Prosecutor of Crimea” Alexander Udovichenko reported this on his page on the social network Facebook.
“We continue to work on the detained vessel “Nord”, in particular, today the court granted the petition of the prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which placed an arrest on this violating vessel,” Udovichenko wrote.
Ukrainian border guards detained the Nord on March 25 in the Sea of Azov and took it to the port of Berdyansk. There are ten crew members on board, all of them are Russian citizens. The shipowner, the production cooperative “Fishing Collective Farm named after the First of May” (Kerch), stated that the ship was detained illegally, and the actions of the border service are dangerous to the life and safety of sailors.
Law enforcement officers opened a criminal case under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of the procedure for entry into and exit from temporarily occupied territory,” the sanction of which provides for up to five years in prison.
The crew was prohibited from leaving the ship. According to the ship's owner, supplies of food, water and fuel were running low. Subsequently, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, announced that provisions had been delivered to the crew.
The Crimean department of the FSB opened a criminal case under Article 211 of the Criminal Code “Hijacking of an air or water transport vessel or railway rolling stock.” The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that Kyiv immediately release the crew members and return the ship to its rightful owner.
