Parliamentarians of the Polish Sejm, specializing in the protection of human rights, planned to hold a series of meetings with eyewitnesses of the Odessa tragedy that occurred on May 2, 2014. In addition, communication with members of the Mothers Committee was planned. Also, the Polish senators intended to personally visit the site of the tragedy and lay flowers in memory of the victims of the tragic events. However, Odessa radicals completely blocked the movement of senators in Odessa.

“We came to Odessa to objectively understand what happened on May 2, 2014. These people died and it is important for their families and society to know why. We have planned a meeting with the relatives of the Odessa residents who died on the Kulikovo Field. However, unknown people thwarted our plans. It’s strange for us that one side is open to dialogue, and the other is not. This is confirmed by the fact that we went down to the people who blocked us and invited them to communicate, because we are interested in the opinions of both sides. However, people in camouflage uniforms told us that they would not communicate with us, and they were against our communication with eyewitnesses of the tragedy. It cannot be that someone tells us with whom we can communicate and meet and with whom we cannot. Our rights have been seriously violated. It’s a pity that in Odessa, in a city with a very long history of freedom and discovery, a history of unfreedom is being built,” said Polish Senate deputy Jan Rulewski.

????????????????????????????????????

“We believe that women from the Council of Mothers of Odessa have the right to meet with Polish deputies. We would also really like to meet them in Ukraine or Poland. Overall, the situation shows that their problem is not fiction, but reality. Now we want to see how the rights of these mothers are protected by Ukraine and the city of Odessa, in particular. What will be written on the monuments of their relatives who died on May 2, how the city as a whole is approaching the solution to the current situation, these are the main questions. We want to understand what happened in Odessa on May 2, if not in Ukraine or Poland, then on the European platform. We believe that the Odessa tragedy should become a lesson for the current Ukrainian government so that this does not happen again in the future,” noted Polish senator Jerzy Wcislaw.

In turn, the scandalous incident was also commented on by the Council of Mothers of Odessa, the organization that invited Polish politicians to South Palmyra.

????????????????????????????????????

“Polish parliamentarians will return to Poland and tell what is happening in the democratic state of Ukraine. And given that there have been no investigations for two years and no one has been punished, this will strengthen their impressions. Today, the UN issued a call to collect signatures for the Mothers' Council petition for an international investigation. We have a huge number of signatures from various countries, not to mention Ukraine and Odessa. And this investigation will be carried out by the UN if our law enforcement agencies are unable to find the truth,” said Victoria Machulko, chairman of the Council of Mothers of Odessa.
