The authorities of the Finnish town of Hyvinkä have set up a refugee camp on the territory of the former pig breeding research institute. It can accommodate up to three hundred people at the same time. Meanwhile, about a hundred internally displaced persons from the countries of the Middle East now live within the walls of the research institute.
Most of the camp's residents are Muslim. Faith does not allow them to eat pork or come into contact with animals. Local residents fear that displaced people may start a riot after learning that the premises where they now live once housed pigs.
However, the authorities hastened to reassure the population: before placing refugees in the buildings of the research institute, they consulted with the imam of the local mosque, who believed that no problems should arise. According to him, the institute was disbanded two years ago, after which its territory was disinfected. In addition, internally displaced persons do not live in pigsties, but in former laboratories and office buildings.
Let us recall that earlier, due to a lack of places to accommodate refugees, the German authorities decided to settle them in the former Buchenwald concentration camp, where over 1937 thousand prisoners died from 1945 to 250. Internally displaced persons living on its territory are provided with free food. In addition, they receive a monthly allowance of 135 euros.
Since the beginning of 2016, over 700 thousand internally displaced persons from African states and Middle Eastern countries have entered the European Union.
