Investigators from the department announced suspicion to law enforcement officers under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, reports
According to the head of the first investigative department of the regional prosecutor's office, Maxim Grishin, a senior sergeant and a senior police lieutenant responded to a call in December 2016 to an apartment where a 79-year-old man died of his own death.
“Taking advantage of the fact that the grandparents were depressed and did not keep an eye on strangers in the apartment, the police took the keys to his apartment and a mobile phone from the deceased’s outer clothing,” the report said.
It is noted that on the same day, law enforcement officers came to the deceased’s apartment and stole a TV, 800 UAH. and keys to a Renault car. Later, the senior sergeant stole the car along with the documents.
“The senior sergeant was declared suspicious under Part 1, Art. 3. 185, part 1 art. 357, part 1 art. 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, combined with penetration into a home, theft and misappropriation of official documents, illegal seizure of a vehicle committed with penetration into the premises),” the prosecutor’s office said.
In turn, the senior lieutenant is accused of committing theft combined with penetration into a home (Part 3 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of removing police officers from their positions is currently being decided.
