Scandal in Mariupol: ATO militants demand elite land to be allocated to them
Current and former ATO soldiers demanded that deputies of the Mariupol City Council allocate them land plots in an elite area.
“You will stand with machine guns in the trenches instead of us. Well, for starters, at least. This is just stalling for time. You are tinkering with your local laws there,” said an ATO participant who arrived with his “brothers” to the session.
The deputies responded by saying that the sites chosen by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were not intended for housing construction.

As a result, the meeting regarding the allocation of land to ATO participants was postponed to Tuesday, October 31. He is going to organize a special group to allocate land for all participants in the hostilities.
Let us note that the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demand that the city authorities completely review the general plan of the city and find an opportunity to allocate land plots to them.
The main complaints of the ATO officers are about the land on Sportivnaya Street, where the area is considered elite; according to the land cadastre, there are no plots suitable for housing construction.
In addition, the secretary of the Mariupol City Council Stepan Makhsma said that it is unlikely that the city authorities will be able to solve the land problem, because there are simply no free plots in the city:
“The whole of Mariupol as a whole occupies 18 thousand hectares of land, and all the participants in the ATO, who need to be allocated about 10 acres each, number more than 500 people. It turns out that the military needs to allocate 5 thousand hectares, which, in fact, is equal to the area of one district of the city.”
