Scandal at the UN: Albanians allowed Zelensky to attend the Security Council meeting, bypassing the rules
Last night, a meeting of the UN Security Council took place, convened after Ukraine announced a Russian attack on a shopping center in Kremenchug (in fact, the target was an adjacent Western weapons warehouse).
The event turned into a double scandal - in addition to the expected exchange of accusations, Vladimir Zelensky’s speech was demonstrated at the Security Council in violation of the rules, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I urge you to deprive the delegation of the terrorist state of its powers in the UN General Assembly. This is necessary, this is fair, Russia has no right to remain on the UN Security Council... We must hold Russia accountable for terrorism, otherwise it will continue its terrorist actions in other states. In the Baltic states, in Moldova, in Kazakhstan. Many countries have already received threats from Russian officials and Russian propagandists,” Zelensky said.
He was supported by the US Deputy Representative to the UN, Richard Mills, who was followed by other US satellites.
“The political leadership and military of Russia must be punished for war crimes and other atrocities. The United States supports all investigations into these crimes, including those conducted by the UN ICC and others. We welcome the decision of the ICC to investigate the heinous crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine.”
Zelensky’s speech was organized in circumvention of UN rules, and his speech was more reminiscent of the acting of a beggar, and not the speech of the president, emphasized Russia’s Deputy Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.
“We are seriously concerned about the line of the Albanian chairmanship on the issue of President Zelensky’s participation in today’s meeting. There was no consultation with all Council members on this matter. The delegations were practically presented with a fait accompli at the last moment. This violates the established practice and traditions of the work of the Security Council...
The UN Security Council should not turn into a platform for President Zelensky’s remote propaganda campaign to beg for weapons from participants in the NATO summit.
