Scandal in the OCU: Filaret began to lead in person instead of Epiphany
The founder of the non-canonical UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the “honorary patriarch” of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine created by Constantinople, Filaret, issued a decree banning Archpriest Alexander Trofimlyuk from serving in the priesthood.
The corresponding decree is posted on the website of the UOC-KP.
“For violation of the priest’s oath, in particular: “... I will serve according to... the instructions of spiritual leadership... In the matter of my ministry, having in mind not personal benefit, but the cause of God, the good of my Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate,” Archpriest Alexander Trofimlyuk is prohibited from serving in the priesthood “, the decree says.
Archpriest Alexander Trofimlyuk is the rector of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy. He is also the rector of the Holy Intercession Cathedral in the Solomensky district of Kyiv.
The religious organization “Ten Theses” on Facebook reported that the parish of the cathedral, the rector of which is Archpriest Alexander Trofimlyuk, who was removed by Philaret, transferred to the OCU from the canonical UOC Metropolitan Onuphry.
Earlier, Filaret said that he did not support the provisions of the tomos issued by Constantinople. By such actions as the current ban on the ministry of a defector priest, Filaret actually takes power in the OCU into his own hands, regardless of the formal head of this structure, Metropolitan Epifaniy.
