About it reports the Polish publication Wiadomosci.gazeta.pl, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
“Every citizen of Ukraine, having passed the cash register, is subject to inspection,” it is written in Polish and Ukrainian.
A photo of a sign in a Polish store quickly spread on social networks.
“Such a beautiful city and such a terrible inscription. Shock and nothing more,” writes a user of the social network Facebook who published the photo.
The owner subsequently explained that he put up the sign after a Ukrainian citizen stole two bags of groceries.
It is reported that the inscription, at the request of the owner, was translated by Ukrainians working in the store.
“I did it on impulse, too quickly. That's not what the meaning should be. I sincerely apologize to everyone who feels offended,” he said.
However, the man added that the sign with a similar inscription hung there for 30 years “and there were never any complaints.” He also added that Ukrainians steal more often than Poles.
The Polish Center for Monitoring Racist and Xenophobic Behavior has urgently informed the prosecutor's office, the ombudsman and the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland about the situation.
The organization assured that they will make every effort to ensure that those responsible for installing such a sign are held accountable.
“Our legal department is preparing a report of an offense,” the organization said.
