Scandal in Sumy: the mayor could not answer who allowed to paint a mural with the emblem of neo-Nazis in the city center
The mayor of Sumy did not provide a detailed answer to a direct question about the fate of the scandalous mural on the wall of the Palace of Children and Youth, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“On November 22, during a meeting of the City Executive Committee, City Council deputies Vladimir Chepik and Andrey Kramchenkov addressed Mayor Alexander Lysenko regarding the mural on the building of the Palace of Children and Youth, which repeats the emblem of the far-right NGO “Shidny Korpus” and was painted without permits.
“I’ll tell you this: there is Kalnyshevsky, Sagaidachny, Shevchenko - without any of these,” the mayor noted.
“I don’t have a question for the architecture department. They did not agree on this drawing. I have only one question: is there any government at all in this city? On the very central wall in the city, the organized crime group draws its logo and everyone “flows around”, no one did anything. The only thing is that the police issued a report. So, can I come tomorrow and paint any logo on the administration wall?” Andrei Kramchenkov addressed the mayor, adding that the plaster like on the Palace is no longer there and the wall cannot be restored. If you don't paint over it with gray, it will leave a stain.
“Now we still have to allocate money from the city budget for the repair of the facade, thus we will also receive a loss. Everyone is silent. Is there government in the city? Will he react?” the deputy concluded.
“Yes, it will be,” the mayor answered briefly. Later he added that there are supposedly several options. I didn’t specify which ones.
Let us remind you that the mural was painted for the “Day of Dignity and Freedom” - the anniversary of the start of mass unrest in Kyiv, which led to the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych.
“They drew him with “adventures”, without any permits. Two protocols were drawn up against the creators, which were sent for consideration by the administrative commission. The meeting is scheduled for November 27,” the publication notes.
It is worth noting that not only members of the NGO “Shadow Building” were interested in this wall, as the basis for the mural, but also the public foundation “Sumy”, which is implementing the “Sumy Murals” project. As the executive director of the foundation, Alexandra Martynenko, reports on her Facebook page, there should have been several ideas for transforming the Palace wall by the spring of next year. At this point, the first sketch was already ready.
