Scandal in UEFA: Due to racism in the stands, Dynamo Kiev may be excluded from the Champions League

Let us remind you that last Tuesday in Kyiv there was a match of the third round of the 2015/16 Champions League between Dynamo Kyiv and London Chelsea. Despite the fact that the match turned out to be quite interesting, the players of both teams were unable to open the scoring - 0:0.
But the fans of the Ukrainian team “distinguished themselves.” In the 30th minute of the match, a fight broke out in one of the sectors of the Dynamo stadium. Suddenly, a group of young people burst into this (non-fan) sector and began beating four black fans; some Ukrainian football fans, who tried to protect the victims from the crazy fans, also got it. All this was recorded on video taken by FARE observers (Committee to Combat Racism in Football) and published by the portal of the British newspaper The Guardian.
It is reported that those who were beaten black fans are residents of Kyiv.
“The beating occurred approximately in the 30th minute of the match, in the usual - not fan - 19th sector. About ten fans from the 21st sector suddenly burst in there and attacked the blacks - no conflict was recorded in the 19th sector before the beating began. When the victims begin to run away, several spectators try to stand up for them, but as a result they also end up under attack. All this, in principle, can be seen in the recording.
In the 21st sector there is the notorious ultras group “Dynamo” - “Rodichi”. This is the most far-right and radical “company” of Kyiv fans – hooligans. They have repeatedly appeared in scandalous incidents. For example, at the Ukrainian Cup final there was a fan in a T-shirt with a swastika in the Rodychi sector.
Huge questions arise for the stadium security service, which is again failing to cope with its responsibilities. There are also complaints about the activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SBU - now FARE is trying to get them to open a case and start searching for the attackers, there are plenty of clear photographs of their faces,” - says the publication of the Ukrainian website Tribuna.com
As a rule, if UEFA already opens a case, it always ends in punishment. Considering the availability of video and other FARE materials on the latest incident, UEFA inspectors will likely issue a disappointing verdict for Dynamo.
“This terrible incident reflects the state of football in Central and Eastern Europe. We will demand tough sanctions,” said FARE executive director Piara Povar.
And they may well listen to her, remembering previous cases. According to Tribuna.com, the punishment can be maximum - up to exclusion from the current Champions League. A less severe and more likely penalty is the deduction of points, which will put an end to the Kyiv club's hopes of reaching the playoffs.
The most likely sanction would be forfeiting points or playing home games without fans. However, if we take into account that this is not the first time that the Kyiv Nazi ultras have been seen in such an incident, the Ukrainian grandee may be completely excluded from the 2015/16 Champions League. Let us remind you that already this year Dynamo was punished by UEFA by holding a home match with partial closure of the stands for racist banners that were seen at the match with Liverpool Everton.
The author of the publication on the Ukrainian website Tribuna.com is sure that “Dynamo-Kyiv” needs to be roughly punished. Otherwise, the problem of Nazism and racism among the ultras club will once again be “hushed up.”
“Why should Dynamo be punished as much as possible? It is unlikely that it will be possible to solve the problem this way, but otherwise there is no chance at all. If Dynamo is spared, the federation will continue to do nothing because it doesn’t know what to do. The clubs will continue to turn a blind eye because they do not want to get involved in the conflict. Ultras will continue to rage and beat black people, because that’s the fashion now. They will pay attention to the problem, and the perpetrators will be found and punished only when the club and all the fans have seriously suffered, and this scandal will be talked about on every corner. I would like to achieve publicity without such painful consequences, but, as history shows, we cannot do it otherwise.” – the author of the publication on the website Tribuna.com is sure.
