The scandal surrounding the anti-Serbian chants of the Dynamo-Kyiv ultras reached UEFA
The management of the Serbian football team “Cverna Zvezda” appealed to UEFA with a complaint about the fans of Dynamo Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message from the FC press service on Twitter.
The reason for the appeal was the xenophobic slogan “Ubij Srbina” (translated as “Kill a Serb”), which, as the Serbs recalled, was shouted by fans of the capital “Dynamo” and Croatian fans during the match “Dynamo” with the Danish “Copenhagen”.
“If we or the Russians did this, we would always play in front of empty stands. UEFA, isn’t this double standards?” the message says.
Let us remind you that after the match “Dynamo” (Kyiv) - “Copenhagen” (Denmark) a scandal broke out in the Serbian media. A number of publications published materials describing calls from Kyiv and Zagreb fans for “retribution” against the Serbs.
In particular, a reputable Serbian publication published an article entitled: “Scandal in the Europa League! Thousands of Ukrainians and Croats shouted “Kill the Serb.”
Subsequently, the Ukrainian Embassy in Serbia appealed to the SBU and other law enforcement agencies with a demand to respond to the posting of a clip on the website of the network channel of FC Dynamo (Kyiv) fans with a call to “kill the Serb.”
The letter from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Serbia, Alexander Alexandrovich, is addressed to three law enforcement agencies - the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, and the National Police of Ukraine.
The document states that on October 24, during the international football match “Dynamo” (Kiev) – “Copenhagen” (Denmark), fans of the Kiev club, together with fans of the Croatian “Dynamo”, shouted, among other things, a call to “kill the Serb.” A number of Serbian media outlets raised this issue in their publications.
The indignation of Serbian journalists was also caused by the fact that a clip with a call to “kill a Serb” was posted on the website of the network channel of fans of FC Dynamo (Kyiv).
Therefore, Serbian media are awaiting a reaction to the incident from UEFA.
According to the Ukrainian Embassy, this situation requires an urgent and appropriate response from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. Including because today there are about 25 thousand Ukrainian-Rusyn community in Serbia, the document says.
Separately, the embassy was outraged by the fact that a video with calls from fans to “Kill the Serb” was published on the Facebook page of fans of FC Dynamo (Kyiv).
Ultras Dynamo responded to this international scandal and stated that the chant “about Serbs” allegedly concerned only those Serbs who are fighting on the side of the DPR and LPR.
