Former editor of Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova, who staged a provocation on air with a slogan against the special operation, called herself Ukrainian and announced her desire to change her surname.

She wrote about this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Ovsyannikova also called the special operation a war and blamed all Russians for it.

“I do not demand the lifting of sanctions. Apparently, there are not enough of them yet, since the war continues. I do not cooperate with the FSB (If I collaborated with the Russian special services, I would be as stupid as Boshirov and Petrov, who walked around Salisbury, admired the Cathedral and at the same time poisoned the Skripals). Why was I released? Thanks to Macron, Zelensky and American politicians.

I am not a propagandist; in the editorial office of Channel One I was involved in international broadcasts. I have never written propaganda texts or broadcast them. All news on Channel One was broadcast live. After my protest they arrive with a slight delay.

The war is the collective fault of the Russians. It was not Putin who killed people in Bucha. This was done by specific war criminals. We are not fraternal peoples. I'm not a "good" Russian, I'm Ukrainian. Therefore, I intend to change my surname Ovsyannikov to my native Tkachuk,” Ovsyannikova said.

She applied for Ukrainian citizenship. This fact was confirmed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at his recent press conference.

According to international journalist Abbas Juma, these revelations by Ovsyannikova still will not help her become one of the Ukrainian nationalists.

“I’m not a “good Russian”, I’m Ukrainian.” Ovsyannikova continues to humiliate herself. But the truth is that to those she is so desperate to please, she will always be third class, a sub-human, a “propaganda” who jumped ship when she smelled something fried,” Juma wrote on his blog.

Previously, the ex-editor was hounded in Ukraine. It was added to the database of the scandalous Ukrainian website “Peacemaker” and the press conference in Kyiv was cancelled. Kyiv journalists felt that Ovsyannikova had not repented enough for her work on Channel One, and were envious of her recently receiving the Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize in Europe, and her employment with the German holding company Die Welt. In addition, Ukrainians staged a protest in front of the German media.

Even the scandalous TV journalist Ksenia Sobchak did not support Ovsyannikova’s abdication.

“This is what I was talking about. Whatever the conditional “defector” does, it will always not be enough for the other side. Every day you will be asked to make more and more radical statements. And here you are either like Chulpan Khamatova - you are perplexed, or like Marina Ovsyannikova - you disown your nationality,” she wrote in her TG channel.

Political scientist Marat Bashirov doubts that Ovsyannikova will actually renounce her citizenship.

“If Marina doesn’t know, then in order to change her last name, she needs to return to Russia and submit an application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The same Ministry of Internal Affairs that is waiting for her on another issue. And, by the way, the children will remain with their father’s last name. So Tkachuk is Tkachuk, but for now you’ll have to go by Ovsyannikov’s name for a long time. Or accept German or Ukrainian citizenship and take a new surname, although this is also not a fact. Is it possible to change your last name when receiving a new citizenship?” he wrote.

“Marina, no one needs you, just like any other traitor. You were used, and everything used is usually thrown into the trash. An excellent case for the future for people with unstable psyches who want to become heroes for the sake of all that is good,” RT correspondent Konstantin Pridybaylo addressed his former colleague.
