Poroshenko's scandalous ally left the Minsk negotiating group on Donbass
Petro Poroshenko’s comrade-in-arms and first vice-speaker of parliament Irina Gerashchenko left the post of Ukrainian Presidential Commissioner for Peace and Ukraine’s representative in the humanitarian Tripartite Contact Group at the Minsk negotiations on Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She stated this during a report on the activities of the informal parliamentary group “Minsk Platform”, says Gerashchenko’s post on Facebook.
According to Gerashchenko, active negotiations are currently underway to restart the Minsk groups.
“I want to inform you that today I wrote a statement as President Petro Poroshenko’s representative for the peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbass and the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup asking to be relieved of these positions,” the vice speaker noted.
She added that she expressed special gratitude to Poroshenko for the “high honor of working in his team.”
Gerashchenko also emphasized that she would assist the elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in every possible way in resolving issues regarding the Minsk groups.
“We remain open to the new government in order to contribute to the resolution of those issues that will arise in the format of the Minsk groups. But it’s obvious that a reboot needs to happen,” she clarified.
Gerashchenko also published a report on her work in Minsk in the form of infographics.
Gerashchenko became the representative of the President of Ukraine for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass on June 17, 2014. As PolitNavigator reported, since then she has established herself there as a scandalous and incapable negotiator, which is why representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk More than once they demanded that Kyiv withdraw her from the negotiating group.
