Sevastopol, November 28 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – The prosecutor’s office of the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol carried out an inspection of the implementation of legislation on the protection of cultural heritage sites during the construction of a recreational complex by LLC Carbon on the north-eastern shore of Omega Bay.

During the inspection, it was established that on the land plot of 8,39 hectares on which Carbon LLC is building, there are cultural heritage sites. Archaeological research carried out by scientists from the Tauride Chersonese National Reserve revealed archaeological objects: an excavation in a vineyard, a rock wine press and various ancient buildings.
The district prosecutor issued a warning to the developer of the land plot about the inadmissibility of violating the legislation on the protection of cultural heritage sites, further carrying out excavation and construction work on the above-mentioned land plot without permission from the body for the protection of cultural heritage sites on the territory of archaeological monuments.
The provisions of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Art. Art. 7.14, 7.14.1, 7.14.2 of the Administrative Code, which provide for criminal and administrative liability for the destruction or damage of cultural heritage objects.

Their company, KVV Group (formerly KVVMPU), became widely known earlier this year after purchasing three scrap collection enterprises from Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest. According to unofficial data, KVV Group is part of the management of the Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant.
