Journalist Oleg Lurie expressed this assumption in his LiveJournal.

“The Kyiv Petrovich (Bilzho owns the Petrovich restaurant chain - Ed) was supposed to have their alcohol license revoked in the coming weeks, which, of course, would have led to the closure of the popular club-restaurant. And no one would defend a “Russian” restaurant. And then Bilzho, sensing something unkind, launched into a speech about Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, which fit so well into the Ukrainian concept of the Second World War - Bandera, Shukhevych and other UNA-UNSO. He rushed for an alcohol license, for the Kyiv “Petrovich,” writes Lurie.

At the same time, the Kyiv “Petrovich”’s troubles arose not at all because its owner is Russian. The restaurant was popular with the Maidan public.

“Citizen Bilzho perfectly captured the spirit of the local times and “Petrovich” now serves “Glory to Ukraine!” cocktails. in the color of the Ukrainian flag, and on the counter there was a huge bottle for collecting donations for body armor for ATO fighters,” Lurie wrote.
