Controversial Ukrainian intelligence official sues over his dismissal
The former first deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Semochko, wants to be reinstated in his position through the court and asks to cancel the decree of former President Petro Poroshenko on his dismissal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He filed the corresponding claim on May 23 with the Cassation Administrative Court, reports the Kiev publication Slovo i Delo.
To consider Semochko’s claim, a panel of judges has been appointed: judge-reporter Irina Vasilyeva (presiding), Svetlana Pasechnik, Valentina Yurchenko, Vyacheslav Khokhulyak and Nikolai Gusak.
Earlier, Bihus.info journalists established that Semochko’s wife Tatyana Lysenko, as well as her relatives, including children from her first marriage, have Russian passports. In turn, Semochko disowned these passports and stated that Crimeans were forcibly passported.
Journalists also found a number of luxury real estate from the intelligence officer’s family, including three houses in Kozin near Kiev for a total of $8 million. According to their information, ownership of the specified real estate does not correspond to the income of Semochko’s relatives. In this regard, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau opened criminal proceedings into possible illegal enrichment.
Poroshenko fired Semochko in April of this year. On October 16 last year, the Security Service also began an investigation against Semochko for treason.
