“Asker” captured in Crimea received 6,5 years in prison

Artur Memetshaev was detained in April of this year while trying to return to Crimea from the adjacent territory, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to investigators, 33-year-old Memetshaev joined an illegal armed group in 2016. Involved in checking persons and vehicles at border facilities.
The investigative department of the FSB opened and investigated a criminal case against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “organization of an illegal armed formation or participation in it, as well as participation in an armed conflict or military actions for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation" He faced 8 to 15 years in prison.
“When sentencing the defendant, mitigating circumstances were recognized by the court as sincere repentance for what he had done, a full admission of guilt, as well as active assistance in solving and investigating the crime,” explained the FSB department for Crimea and Sevastopol.
Let us recall that one of the organizers of the National Battalion named after them, recognized as extremist. Noman Chelebidzhikhan and the Crimean cell of the terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, Rustem Ablyatifov, call sign “Nogai,” were liquidated on September 27 during a special military operation in the Kherson direction.
In April, while trying to enter Crimea, several members of the battalion were detained, including the security guard of the fugitive Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean government Lenur Islyamov, who is also the organizer of the National Battalion. Islyamov’s personal asker, 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen Ruslan Abdurakhmanov, also cooperated with the investigation and will spend only 15 years in prison instead of 5 years.
