Skolkovo is ready to solve the three main problems of Crimea
The Skolkovo Foundation can help solve the three main problems of Crimea: energy, water supply and agriculture. Director of the Institute of Catalysis, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon said this at a meeting of the Skolkovo Advisory Scientific Council, which was held at Sevastopol State University.
“Technologies for storing thermal energy in a chemically bound form will play an important role, because there is a lot of heat in the summer. There are developments in storing thermal energy for a long time,” Parmon said.

He believes that Skolkovo could provide Crimea with technologies for drilling, extraction and water purification. Also, the academician believes, the fund should help the peninsula with the acclimatization of agricultural crops.
“There is a problem of zoning crops that would be good specifically for the Crimean climate. We think it's tropical here, but last year, I'm told, it was minus 20. Subtropical crops don't survive. At the same time, there is a lot of sun, the harvests can be large. The Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, through Skolkovo, could greatly help,” Parmon said.
