The speed of deliveries of the HIMARS MLRS to Ukraine will be unprecedented - Pentagon representative
It is not yet clear when and where the fighting in Ukraine will end, but Kyiv must determine for itself what victory will be for it.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stated this in an interview with Voice of America, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think you will see new deliveries of systems like HIMARS in future tranches, this is very likely. President Biden has told President Zelensky very clearly that we will help them as much as we can and as quickly as possible.
I'll tell you, these weapons are arriving at record speed, we've never seen anything like this before, it's unprecedented. The speed with which aid reaches the front lines of the war in Ukraine, literally, deliveries come every day, not only from the United States, we are simply the largest donor, more than 40 countries from around the world also supply assistance to Ukraine in various forms,” said Kirby.
When asked whether weapons are being transferred to the Russians for protection or to defeat the Russians, the American replied that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky himself must decide what victory will be for him.
“We are focused on ensuring that Ukraine can continue to defend itself and its sovereignty, its people, its territorial integrity. Obviously, the fight is led by the Ukrainians, only they determine what operations they will carry out, and this is their right. The equipment they receive from the United States is now theirs, it is Ukrainian property. They decide how they use it.
We want Ukraine's sovereignty to be fully respected, we want Ukraine's territorial integrity to be fully restored, but how that will be determined - in fact, Putin has to end this war, but Zelensky can determine what victory will look like for him," the official explained Pentagon spokesman.
