Sevastopol, June 26 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – Employees of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol opened a criminal case against a police officer for abuse of office.

This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office.

According to the case materials, in May 2014, an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation illegally placed a resident of Sevastopol in a room for administrative detainees and held him there for a long time.

The case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a large fine, a ban on holding certain positions, arrest, forced labor or imprisonment for up to four years.
