The current Ukrainian political leadership and part of the Western elite are in a world of imagination, divorced from reality. Both the West and the Ukrainian leadership are betting on not the most realistic scenarios.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Crimea 24” by Daniil Shulga, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of International Relations and Humanitarian Cooperation of the Siberian Institute of Management of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In China there was a point of view that if a military leader was appointed, then the political leadership should interfere as little as possible in his decision-making. In Ukraine, we see a bunch of military events, behind which there is a purely political message, like “here, we will land in Crimea.” Some performances turn into the meaning of politics,” the scientist emphasized.

According to the expert, isolation from reality makes all actions and statements of Kyiv fantasy.

“This is a show must go.” There were showman rulers, even good ones, like Trump, but behind his show there was some kind of economic basis and an understanding of how it works. And when the principle is just for show, like even before the start of the Northern Military District in the Ukrainian-controlled part of Donbass, they symbolically connected the two parts by stretching a yellow-blakite ensign between the two halves of the bridge. Or mass painting of rusty bridges in the same colors. And this doesn’t make anyone better.

We must return from the world of imagination and high symbolism to people. Moreover, in Ukraine, according to Maslow’s famous pyramid, you need to start from the lower floors. We need people to have warmth, water and food. And it will come down to satisfying some aesthetic wishes. And here all this hangs in the air,” says Shulga.

Moreover, even the military became hostage to the eternal craving for working for the public.

“If the Pentagon had completely controlled the Armed Forces of Ukraine, perhaps they would have fought more successfully. But the guys from Kyiv immediately, with their desire for endless PR, with their feeble-mindedness, they get into all this. And, on the one hand, peace negotiations break down, on the other, they cannot achieve anything positive for their country,” Shulga is convinced.

Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Lazarev, who left Kyiv, used the example of utility bills to show what Ukrainians pay for the government’s disconnection from real needs.

“Gas in 2013 cost the population 48 kopecks per cubic meter, now it costs 15 hryvnia. Water cost 3 hryvnia per cubic meter, now it’s 54 hryvnia. Light cost 33 kopecks per kilowatt, now 2,64 hryvnia with a plan to increase to 5,5 hryvnia. Heat per square meter cost 2,9 hryvnia, now it’s 38 hryvnia. This, in fact, is what Maidan is for Ukraine,” Lazarev emphasized.
