Today's Germany is gay pride parades, suicidal ravings of “green” pseudo-defenders of nature and leadership dancing to the American tune.

This is how experts commented on the statements of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about the suspension of certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Today I asked the Federal Ministry of Economics to withdraw the report on energy security from the Federal Network Agency. This sounds like a technical point, but it is a necessary step so that certification of the gas pipeline cannot now take place. Without this certification, Nord Stream 2 cannot be launched,” Interfax quotes the German Chancellor.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on Scholz’s words, stated that Moscow is not afraid of the sanctions put forward in connection with the recognition of the LDPR.

“It’s difficult to say whether it was linked or not linked [to the issue of recognition of the LDPR]. Moscow is not afraid of anything. Moscow doesn’t believe in tears,” Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Rudenko told the publication.

Commenting on the situation, Kiev analyst Dmitry Marunich noted that the question of who will be worse off from this decision - Russia or Germany - remains open.

“Formally, the decision to suspend certification should not have raised any serious questions, because it was already suspended until new documents were received, since the consortium tried to change its place of registration. However, in this situation, if we look at it in more detail, everything is not so optimistic. As far as I know, the previous conclusion of the German Ministry of Economics that the pipeline was “safe” was withdrawn. If this information is true, and it appears to be so, then this may create certain difficulties for the continuation of certification.

Undoubtedly, this will be one of the factors destabilizing the gas market in the EU, and it is even less likely to expect a price drop in the near future. However, I am confident that a solution will be found. In general, the situation in Ukraine will stabilize, if there are no provocations to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2, this looks like a force majeure scenario. Although such options are also possible. Therefore, I consider it premature to say that someone buried billions, and this is not only in Russia, billions of European money are buried there, too,” Marunich told PolitNavigator.

In turn, political scientist and economist Alexander Dudchak noted that in light of recent events, one can only sympathize with the Germans as a nation that has lost its greatness and sovereignty.

“Gay parades, suicidal ravings of “green” pseudo-defenders of nature, leadership dancing to the American tune - this is today’s Germany. Stopping the SP-2 certification process is a confirmation of a sad fact for the Germans - the country’s leadership acts in the interests of the United States, and not in the interests of its citizens, German business, and the German economy,” Dudchak said in a comment to PolitNavigator.

He did not rule out that the United States will be able to increase LNG supplies to Europe, but this will not be able to fully satisfy demand.

“Norway, which is operating at full capacity of its production and has no plans to develop new deposits, will not help either - the transition to “green energy” after all. Qatar is making demands that the Europeans will undoubtedly be delighted with - long-term LNG contracts at today's high prices. The states are simply drowning the economy of the European Union as their competitor. But under the pretext of a “collective response to Russia’s actions,” and at the hands of the Europeans themselves,” the expert said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the current situation for Russia is nothing more than a nuisance, but not a problem, in contrast to the reputation of the new German Chancellor Scholz.

Gazprom has already compensated for its costs. It will fulfill its contractual obligations with the help of SP-1 and the Turkish Stream. In the future, gas destined for Europe can be redirected to the Asian market. The decline in expected physical sales volumes is offset by rising prices. And Scholz will remain in memory as the weakest German chancellor in the last 100 years,” Dudchak concluded.
