"Bravery and stupidity". Distraught Ukrainians beat up a fan with a Russian flag
In Glasgow, at the Euro 2020 match between Ukraine and Sweden, a young man wearing an earflap hat with a red star and the Russian tricolor appeared on the podium of the Ukrainian national team.
The corresponding video was published on the website RT, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
First, the “Russian” who came to the stadium took a photo with another fan, who was already holding the flag of Ukraine. However, after this, other fans noticed the “intruder”, after which a fight broke out.
The Ukrainian fans who came to the camp tore off the tricolor, tore his T-shirt, and tied a Ukrainian flag around his neck. A hat with Soviet symbols banned in Ukraine was also taken away from him.
Russian special correspondent Alexander Kots commented on the incident.
“And here is a video from the stands in Glasgow, where a young man unfurls the Russian flag in the most hostile environment of Ukrainian fans. I hope he knew what he was doing and it was an act of “weakness and courage.” Because seriously trying to play at the friendship of peoples in this situation is completely stupid. In some film about fans of two competing companies, there was an episode when fans of one team unfurled their flag in the stands of the other. It seems that it was in ID,” Kots wrote in his Telegram-channel.
And in Kyiv they have traditionally called the incident a “Russian provocation.”
“It turns out that the guy with the Ukrainian flag is not Ukrainian at all. A special provocation for a photo shoot demonstrating the “unity” of Ukraine with Russia,” political strategist Taras Berezovets, who serves the interests of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, wrote on the social network.
