The Russian Investigative Committee has charged a Ukrainian war criminal
The Investigative Committee of Russia brought charges in absentia against the commander of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexei Maistrenko, who gave orders to shell civilians in Donbass.
This was announced by official representative of the department Svetlana Petrenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On July 7 and 20, 2019, Maistrenko gave orders to his subordinates to conduct targeted artillery attacks on civilian infrastructure in the city of Pervomaisk. As a result of these crimes, 8 people were injured, including 2 children. One woman died from her injuries.
According to the investigation, the brigade commander carried out obviously criminal orders from higher command. Alexey Maistrenko was charged in absentia with committing a crime that provides for liability for organizing the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare,” Petrenko said.
At the same time, she added that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues investigative actions aimed at identifying other Ukrainian officials involved in similar crimes.
