This is stated in the message of the department.
Employees of Ukrainian security forces are suspected of crimes committed between 2014 and 2015.
According to the department, in April 2015, near the village of Yelenovka, Donetsk region of Ukraine, armed persons captured volunteers of the Russian Fund for Refugees “We Don’t Abandon Our Own,” who were carrying humanitarian cargo from Lugansk: things and food.
According to the Investigative Committee, the abducted Russians were forcibly held in the basement of the Department of Ukraine's State Security Service in the Donetsk region. First, they were accused on far-fetched grounds of committing crimes, and then exchanged for Ukrainian military personnel detained by representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics.
The Investigative Committee also established another episode of the kidnapping of a Russian by Ukrainian security forces. A 36-year-old man was detained in December 2014 at a checkpoint located near the village of Krasny Partizan, Donetsk region. He came there as a volunteer, but the SBU accused him of creating a terrorist group. He was convicted for this and was released two years later, the Investigative Committee noted.
